Chapter 11

I had to admit I was nervous as we pulled up in the Colvin’s driveway. I guess Derrick realized I had gotten quiet as we got out of the truck. He grabbed my hand and held it as we walked into the house together. We went down the hall to the family room where everyone was sitting and talking.

They all stop talking and got quiet as we walked in, until Kiyah hollered, “There’s my damn Mayweather! You knocked her the fuck out!”

“TiKiyah Colvin! Just because you’ve graduated, doesn’t mean you’re too big for me to knock your ass out in my house for using that kind of language.” Marilyn scolded.

“But Mommie you cuss too!” Kiyah said and fell in the floor laughing.

“David Colvin this is your fault. I told you not to give her that damn cup. Now you do something with your drunk ass daughter.” Marilyn stated and starting laughing at the horrified look on her husband’s face as he looked at Kiyah sitting on the floor beside T.J. laughing.

Derrick looked at Kiyah and starting laughing, “T.J. can you please take the little drunk outside so she can get some air and sober up a little. We need to have a serious conversation for a minute and I don’t think that’s possible with her in here.”

“Alright, I got ya.” T.J. said as he led Kiyah out of the room.

“But I wanna stay.” We heard Kiyah say as T.J. keep walking pulling her with him.

“Tay needs to talk to y’all for a minute and we really need you to listening to everything she’s saying.” Derrick said looking around the room at his mom and dad, then Uncle Bill and my mom. Then he squeeze my hand as encouragement.

“I don’t really know where to start so I guess I’ll just start at the beginning. I remember everything that happened to me the night of my attack. At first I didn’t remember until I started having nightmares and it all came back to me. The three guys who attack me were X, his bodyguard, and Bo. Mary also attacked me that night she beat me with a bat before she gave me a shot and whispered die bitch in my ear. So I knew Sylvia was telling the truth the other night.” I paused to catch my breath.

“You want to sit down before you go on?” Derrick asked. I nodded my head yes and he lead me over to the recliner sat down and pulled me down in his lap.

Everyone was quiet after what I had said, so I continued, “After X and Sylvia came over two weeks ago, the things they said were really bothering me and I didn’t think anyone would give me straight answers, so I started looking on my own, especially after the police wouldn’t press charges against them. I needed answers, so I hacked into Uncle Bill’s computer. I found the information about my trust, but it still didn’t answer any of my questions. So I hmmmm….
